We'll be passing out the safety pins, and introducing a new version of the small kid time game

Rock-Paper-Scissors

called,

"Rock-Covered Red Tape"

The idea for the event is most recently inspired by what's happening across the pond, where Brexit has turned people inside out and upside down. Click on the link for photos of people inspired by the pin.

It's my birthday on the 16th, and after the results of the American Election, I grieved and committed full on to the process of feeling all the loss I was feeling. I put those feelings on a blog post here. Then followed up today with this.

Here at The Safety Pin Cafe, common magic (the safety pin) for uncommon necessity started with a medicine story about a faceless woman, a silver-haired Raven, and Ancestors who never loose track of the scent or sense of their kin.

Come join us in solidarity, put the pin in place, be part of a new commotion, learn a different set of motions and be the leader of the nation you envision!

We have one story telling date scheduled this fall. It will take place at the South Whidbey Tilth Farmers' Market 2812 Thompson Road in Langley, Washington.

The Farmers Market opens at 11 am. Come and meet the vendors and farmers, stroll the stalls, and fill your baskets with Whidbey grown veggies and fruit and crafts; enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a freshly-baked scone or breakfast. Then join Mokihana in The Safety Pin Cafe where story will weave myth with the mundane, and in the telling invite you to join in. This event is inspired by Story's long history as a source of medicine for all sentient beings, human's benefit from story, no doubt. We are among the many who benefit. Come to hear with the power of the god Lono. Come ready to suspend disbelief, and open to a more robust version of reality.

The stories begin around 11:30, and last for approximately 2 hours.

THE SAFETY PIN CAFE'S MISSION

From the original medicine story The Safety Pin Cafe, its "Introduction" is the foundation upon which we offer what we know:

"We cross borders without regard, ignorant or arrogant of the protocol native to the transitional spaces that take us from this place to that place. Traditions remembered and practiced would maintain and pass along the right things to do, at the right time, and in the right frame of mind. Have we all become wanderers with passports un-stamped with the memory of teachings from the Ancestors and Nature? There are rituals to remember and common magic to induce respect and reverence for the beings and places that share this planet."
