The Safety Pin Cafe 2015 Event Calendar

August 16, 2015

I'm sorry to say I am having health challenges this summer. We did pitch our story tent in July and are happy for that. I cancelled August's event and may have to do the same with September's. If things change I will post them here. All the best of good wishes to you and your loved ones.

2015 The Year of the Green Goat/Ram/Sheep was welcomed at The Safety Pin Café, Saturday February 21, 2015. We chanted E HO MAI to ask for what we all needed, and with all the voices echoing we were blessed with a crisp and brilliant sunny New Year's day.

With the blessing and collaboration with South Whidbey Tilth we pitch our story tent and share more stories that hold life together.

PACIFIC-WIDE LUNAR PRACTICES CONFERENCE, September 24-27, 2015

This important conference designed to share lunar practices among indigenous peoples for the purpose of addressing climate change will take place on O'ahu, Hawaii. In and of itself the conference has such hopeful application across the Pacific Rim and the whole of Earth. There is an additional value: the application of technology to facilitate on-line participation via what organizer Kalei Nu'uhiwa has coined HUBS. There is the potential for The Safety Pin Cafe to be one of those on-line centers or HUB to connect and participate in the conference called 'AIMALAMA. This is exciting news! Behind the scenes Pete and I are working to lay the groundwork for this to happen.

UPDATE:
We are moving very nicely through the details of bringing INTERNET and WIFI to the South Whidbey TITH.

We have opened our new gathering place HO'OMOKU in exactly the same place where The Safety Pin Cafe pitches its tent. On this place on Mother Earth, that is named in the Lushootseed Language "prairie front" we respectfully prepare stories and connections to make island. See more photos of the Opening Ceremony here, and the flow of activities here.

Aloha kakou. We look forward to telling stories with you, and send you all the very best of good cheer!

Mokihana and Pete
